Vanessa McLean Light

Vanessa McLean Light, 26, of Rogersville, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born in Kingsport on February 5, 1988, a daughter of Gerald and Angie McLean of Rogersville, she had resided in this area her entire life. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Vanessa will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter and friend. She enjoyed riding horses and jamming to her radio. She loved the beach, making jokes and being happy.

Vanessa is survived by her husband, Bill Light of the home; daughter, Summer Brooke Arnold of Rogersville; parents, Gerald and Angie McLean of Rogersville; two brothers, Gerald McLean III of Mississippi and Arnold McLean of Rogersville; three sisters, Crystal Rester and husband, Glen of Mississippi, Melissa McLean of Mississippi, and Sheena Perry of Virginia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and very special friend, Evelyn Haney.

The family will receive friends tentatively on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral has been scheduled tentatively for 8 p.m. with Rev. Pete Smith and Rev. Larry Bledsoe officiating.

The graveside service will tentatively be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allan Harris, Roy Light, James Moore, Arnold McLean, Jimmy Zearis, and Stron Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Haney and William "Boo Boo" Greer. Those attended graveside services are asked to assemble at the graveside by 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
