Vaughn Randolph, Kingsport, died Friday, November 21, 2008 after he had fought a courageous battle with ALS Lou Gehrig's Disease.
He was born in Carter County, TN to the late Brinton and Viola Randolph. Vaughn served in the U. S. Air Force in Guam. After returning home, he became a teacher and taught in Salisbury, NC and retired from the Kingsport Public Schools.
Vaughn was an active member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene McDaniel Randolph; sons, Mark Randolph and wife Lori of Gray, Alan Wayne Randolph and wife Linda of Jackson, TN; grandchildren, Luke and Hope Randolph; brothers, Jack Randolph of Etowah, TN and Jerome Randolph and wife Betty of Orlando, FL; and sisters, Kathryn Hardin and Jane Bennett and husband Grant, all of Elizabethton.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Monday at the church with Dr. Gene Lasley officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Jack Lyons officiating. Military rites will be by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Hardin, David Bennett, Dale Bennett, Eddie Randolph, David Jones, and Carroll Montgomery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sherrill Depew, Jerry Shoun, Bobby Miller, Bob Harris, Bob Bryant, Gary Canter, and Kim Royal
