Velma Gregg Hubbard, 83, Jonesborough, passed away early Thursday morning at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Velma was born in Sullivan County and had lived in Washington County for most of her life. Mrs. Hubbard attended Gospel Mission Church. She loved to quilt and loved to watch the Lady Vols.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Hubbard, parents, Charlie and Lyndie Gregg, six brothers and one sister, Polly Miller, October 6, 2011.
Velma is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Wilma Robbins and husband Wayne of Jonesborough, TN; two sons, Dee Hubbard and wife Vickie of Fall Branch, TN and Don Hubbard and wife Phyllis of Kingsport, TN; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 15th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch. Services will follow at 8:00 with Rev. Eddie McAmis, Rev. Louie Meade, Rev. Shelton Meade and Honorary Rev. Orville Dolen officiating.
Graveside services will be on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Bacon-Kincheloe Cemetery in Jonesborough.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
