Vera Williams Turner died December 27, 2006 after a fall. She had resided in Kingsport for three years after spending most of her adult life in Tullahoma and Woodbury, TN. She was born in El Bethel Community, Bedford County, TN and taught school in Cannon County, TN and Tullahoma, TN. She loved her family, respected her profession, was active in her church, gave hands and feet to her faith, and was an encourager.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, J. Paul Turner; son John Franklin Turner; parents Emmett Madison Williams and Ollie Turrentine Williams; sisters Sara W. Beasley and Christine W. Duke; and brothers H. Young Williams and Lawrence D. Williams.
She is survived by her son Harrison D. Turner M.D. and his wife Patricia of Kingsport, TN; daughter-in-law Martha R. Turner of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren Paula T. Forcht and her husband Lemuel, and Paul F., Jesse H., and Sarah Turner; great-grandchildren Turner and Harrison Forcht; and a loving family of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Tullahoma, TN on Friday December 29 at 2 p.m. with the family receiving friends at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to El Bethel Baptist Church in Bedford County, First Baptist Church in Tullahoma, TN, or to the organ fund of First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport, TN.
