Verdia Ruth Miller
Verdia "Ruth" Adkins Miller went home to be with the Lord at 2:05 pm Thursday, May 5, 2011 after a long illness.
Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ella B. and Fannie B. Adkins; infant daughter Melody Gay and son Robert E. Miller.
Survivors include her sons, Lester "Brownie" and wife, Cindy; Frank and wife, Faye, James "Jim", Mark; and daughters Michelle and Mrs. Scott "Margaret" Murray; twelve grandchildren, Melody, Vicki, Jamie, Denver, Shannon, Tyler, Andrew, Emma, Sarah, Leslie, Heather and Cassie; ten great-grandchildren, Cody, McKenzie, Meghan, Mason, J.J., Jasmine, Brooke, Jaden, Kaylee, Grayson; two very special sisters, Mrs. Margaret Bishop and Mrs. Wanda Malone; two brothers, Wallace and Henry Adkins; and several nieces and nephews.
At Ruth's request there will be no formal service; instead there will be a Celebration of Life, the family will receive friends 4-6 pm Monday, May 9, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
The family requests no flowers, however, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kingsport Shriners Jericho Temple, 1100 Jericho Dr., Kingsport, TN 37663.
