Verlin "Tom" Grills, 73, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Indian Path Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was retired from Holliston Mills after 25 years of service. Tom was an avid outdoorsman having loved to fish.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Charmie Crawford; son, Jasper Lynn Grills; and grandson, Michael Lee Cutshall.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Grills of Church Hill; three daughters, Pam Cutshall of Kingsport, Gail Quillen of Church Hill, April Joyner of Church Hill; son, Lester Grills of Church Hill; four grandchildren, Tara Leigh Joyner, Kayla Quillen, Amanda Quillen, and Kaitlyn Quillen; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sue and Gene Jones of Kingsport; special friends, Bob and Vicia Sensabaugh of Church Hill; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 pm with Minister Roger Wheatley officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 noon at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Franklin Dobbs, Mikey Rhoten, Randy Leeper, Tony McCellan, Jeff "Jay" Crumpley, and Richard Ford.
