Viola H. Adams, 79, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2016, with her family by her side. She was a member of the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ for over 60 years. They have visited, in recent years, several Apostolic Churches. Viola retired from Eastman Chemical Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelly and Ruby Head; maternal grandparents, Pearly Powers Winegar and Wilbur Winegar; paternal grandparents, Decatur Head and Fannie Johnson Head; granddaughter, Alisha Adams; and two infant brothers, James and Johnny Head.
Viola is survived by her husband of 60 years, William Craft Adams; one daughter, Trish Porter and husband Eddie; one son, Mike Adams and wife Carol; seven grandchildren, Michael Porter and wife Olivia, Mykayla Porter, Brandon and Andrea Buchanan, Justin and Jessica Adams, Christy Gibson and husband Farrin; seven great-grandchildren, Allie and McKenzie Gibson, Jaylen, Christian, and Quinton Buchanan, and Canaan Porter; siblings, Bonnie Wilson and husband Eddie, Lorene Eldridge, Lowell Head and wife Charlene, and Clarence Head and wife Jo; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Elder Everett Lett and Freddy Redman officiating. Music will be provided by the Benton Family.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those who wish to attend, please meet at Oak Hill Memorial Park at 10:45 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Buchanan, Justin Adams, Michael Porter, Quinton Buchanan, and Henry Adkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Mykayla Porter, Jaylen Buchanan, and Christian Buchanan.
Flowers are accepted, but it would please the family if donations were made to the charity of your choice, in her memory.
Special thanks to Life Care Center of Gray, Station 3 nurses and staff, and Caris Hospice for their care of Viola. Also special thanks to Mama's House Buffet management and staff for their care and consideration over the years.
