Violet Ritchie McCrary

Violet Ritchie McCrary, 86, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010. She was born in Tom's Creek, VA, lived in Bracy, VA, for most of her life, and in Kingsport, TN, for the last few years.

She was a charter member of Appalachia Eastern Star, Big Stone Gap, VA, and a member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Ebony, VA.

Her parents, Robert "Bob" and Berta A. Ritchie, and a brother, Millard Ritchie, preceded her in death.

She was the loving wife of James "Jim" R. McCrary for 69 years. Also surviving her are daughters, Barbara M. Johnson, Linda M. Clary and husband, Charles, Jimmie S. Coats and husband, Robert "Bobby" Coats, and Donna M. Barron; grandchildren, Bill J. Clark, Jr., Monica A. Lane and husband, Jerry, Cassandra L. Powers and husband, Wayne, Bill Barron, Carrie A. Smith, Wendy C. Duncan and husband, Todd, April D. Osborne and husband, Brandon, and Robert A. Coats; 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 to 6 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 6:00.
