Virgie Evelee Smith Barrett, 71, was born August 4, 1936, and went home to see her Savior Tuesday, March 4th. She was a piano player for 48 years at Gospel Mission Church where she attended faithfully. Evelee always had an open table at her home.
Preceding her in death were her parents, James Luther and Eva Light Smith; a brother, Jake; and sisters, Ethel Archer, Estelle Light, and Betty Jackson.
Survivors include her husband, Ray C. R. C. Barrett; two daughters, Janis Hass and husband Randy, DiAnna Smith and husband Pete; her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Jeremy Smith and wife Faith, Josh Smith and wife Christina, Michael Hass and wife April, Rachel Hass and MaKeegan Wells; great-grandchildren and love of her life, Reagan Smith and Gaige Hass; her very best friend, Louise Chase; and special friend and hairdresser, Helen Jones.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thursday and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Gospel Mission Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the church with Pastor Lewis Meade, Brother Byrl Fann, Evangelist Shelton Meade, and Brother Danny Dolen officiating. Honorary minister will be Rev. Orville Dolen.
Burial will follow at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Dolen, Phillip Dolen, Andy Wilcox, Marty Jackson, Jehovah Barrett, Kyle Chase, Darrell Wilcox, Michael Hass, Joe Barrett, and Phillip Wilcox.
