Virgie Chase, 61, Kingsport, went home to be with the angels and the mother she dearly loved, late Friday afternoon, June 13, 2014, following an extended illness. Virgie was born in Ft. Blackmore and moved to Kingsport in her youth. She worked at Giant/Food Lion for 25 years before opening Batteries Plus with her husband. She retired for health reasons. Virgie loved to care for her flowers and garden and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father, Willie Absher and mother, Lillian Price, and siblings, Edith Ann Steffey and Emmett Pat Absher.
Virgie is survived by her husband, Stephen Nelms Chase of the home; children, Jeanene Adkins of Kingsport, TN, Stephanie Chase of Church Hill, TN, Brian Chase of Germantown, TN, and Josh Adkins of Kingsport, TN; 12 grandchildren, Cody, Sara, Luke, Anna, Hailey, Jay, Ben, Daniel, Kurstin, Kierstyn, D.W. and Sagan; 1 great-grandchild to be; 4 sisters, Mary Absher, Linda Ramey, Peggy Ellis and Tammy Begley, all of Kingsport; and 3 brothers, Willie, Kenny and Daniel Absher, all of Kingsport.
At Virgie's request, a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. David Hale officiating.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Potter, Cody Adkins, Josh Adkins, Kenny Absher, Luke Hensley, and Tyler Carrico.
