Virgil Davis, 89, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 24, 2008, after a period of declining health.
During his high school years he was a member of the Dobyns-Bennett Golf Team. He was a golf champion and was the youngest person to win the Kingsport City Golf Championship at the age of 19. Virgil graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1938. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and returned home to work at Eastman Chemical Company. In 1948 he married Eula Seals. Virgil was a charter member of Ridgefields Country Club and a lifelong member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Eula Seals, who passed away in 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Davis Ross and husband Bob of Kingsport, Marilyn Davis of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Caroline Rebecca, Ian Robert, and Phillip Clay Ross, all of Kingsport; and his beloved pets.
There will be a private graveside service at Oak Hill Memorial Park. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church.
