Virginia "Ginger" Bowen

Virginia "Ginger" Bowen, 70, of Nickelsville, VA, formerly of Appalachia, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, April 5, 2011 at the home of her son Jeff, Mebane, NC.

Ginger was of the Apostolic faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.

Her husband, Jim Bowen and one son, James Bowen preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Horne and husband Michael of Nickelsville, Jena Sturgill and husband Harold of Duffield, and Pam Castle and husband Keith of Kingsport; two sons, Jeff Bowen and wife Tarrie of Mebane, NC and Sam Bowen of Chapel Hill, NC; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Bowen and husband Bill of Indiana and Mary Ruth Aistrop of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Hammonds officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holston View Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
