Virginia D. Coley, 93, died Tuesday afternoon, June 23, 2009 at The Oaks in Kingsport in the loving care of The Oaks residential care team and Amedisys Hospice.
Mrs. Coley was born August 1, 1915 in Richlands, Virginia, to Robert B. and Helen Kilgore Dickerson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Coley, and siblings Clarence Dickerson, Cumi Dickerson Fullen, Mabel Dickerson Bell, Ruby Dickerson Slater, Kemp R. Dickerson, E.W. Dickerson and O.J. Dickerson.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Coley was a homemaker, avid gardener and a member of the First Baptist Church on Church Circle.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 30, 2009 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Davis and the Rev. Mike Pelham officiating. Music will be provided by Anthony Harris. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
The family gratefully acknowledges those who have provided care for Mrs. Coley and support for the family: the staff and residential care team at The Oaks of Kingsport; the nursing staff, volunteer, and chaplain of Amedisys Hospice; Kay Adkins and Terry Nye, M.D.
In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the Activities Fund, The Oaks Assisted Living, 2424 East Stone Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660.
