Virginia Kiser Fletcher, 99, of Kingsport, died Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Wexford House. The daughter of the late John Arch and Retha Grigsby Kiser, she was born October 12, 1918 in Russell County, Virginia. She had lived in Kingsport since 1943. Educated at Milligan College and James Madison University, she was a classroom teacher, having taught in the Russell County, Virginia, Kingsport City, and Sullivan County School Systems. Virginia was an active member of First Baptist Church, Kingsport, for more than 70 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn C. Fletcher; son, Gary L. Fletcher; and two brothers, The Rev. Kent L. Kiser and Paul G. Kiser.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Fletcher Barbour and husband Billy; two nieces, Melissa Kiser of Trenton, N.J., and Shawn Hawk of Murfreesboro, TN; and sister-in-law, Mary E. Kiser of Murfreesboro, TN.
The family will receive friends at the graveside at East Lawn Memorial Park from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.
