Virginia Parker (age 87) of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord, with her family by her side, Saturday evening, January 25, 2020 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born in Russell County, Virginia, on May 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Cross and Etta Meade, she has resided in this area her entire life. Virginia attended Parkers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Virginia married Robert Lee (Junior) Parker, on November 11, 1950. She was a loving mother, mamaw, sister, and friend to everyone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee (Junior) Parker; daughter Pamela Parker; brother, Marvin Meade; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Dale Fink; brother-in-law, Eugene Dickens; and niece, Debbie Light.
Virginia is survived by her daughters, Marcilene Hommel (Larry) of Church Hill, TN, Angela Pearcy (Gary) of Kingsport, TN and Kathy Hilton (Brian) of Kingsport, TN; son, David Parker (Gwen) of Kingsport, TN; seven grandchildren, Tina Begley (Jerry), Melinda Webb (David), Amber Linkous (Steve), Eric Pearcy, Laken Parker, Jessica Boggs (Austin), and Hannah Clevenger (Michael); ten great grandchildren, Tiffany Collins (James), Brady Webb, Teara Austin (Payton), Chloe Webb, Paige Linkous, Easton Castle, Sophie Webb, Branch Begley, Briggsley Boggs, Kenlee Clevenger; and one great-great-grandson, Nate Collins; sister, Mary Lou Dickens of Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Parkers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Chris Castle, Elder Paul Strong and Rev. Mark Ball officiating. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Morrison City United Methodist Church cemetery. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.
