Virginia Weatherly Rose, 83, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Rose was born in Hiltons, VA on August 5, 1924 to the late Dewitt and Florence Curtis Weatherly. She was a graduate of Hilton High School and retired from Montgomery Ward in Kingsport after 47 years of service.
She married Cecil Rose, the love of her life, on March 25, 1951. Her only child, Steve Rose, her pride and joy, was born on January 18, 1952.
Mrs. Rose was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and was a charter member of Gate City Chapter #116, Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Cecil Rose; her son, Steve Rose; brothers, Joe Weatherly and Jack Weatherly; and a brother-in-law, Joe Bralley.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Catherine Miller Rose of Kingsport; her three grandchildren, Curt Rose and wife Jenny of Kingsport, Chris Rose and wife Jill of Grundy, VA, and Caty Rose of Kingsport; sisters, Evelyn Bralley of Gate City, Shirley Weatherly Salyer and husband Charles of Church Hill, and Gerry Weatherly of Hiltons; four nieces, Sandra Bralley Miller of Gate City, Patsy Bralley Jones, and Kay Bralley Wade of Hiltons, VA, and Beth Weatherly Jones of Kingsport; and a sister-in-law, Helen Derting Weatherly of Kingsport.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
