Virginia Lynn Scissom

Virginia Lynn Mullican Scissom, 75, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at her home with family and friends beside her. She was born in McMinnville, TN and had resided in Virginia Beach for several years as a navy wife. Virginia moved to Kingsport in 1986 following her husband's retirement from the Navy. She was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and an avid Mahjong player. Virginia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Onnie Mai Mullican; stepmother, Willie Mae Mullican; husband, James "Tootlum" Scissom; and brother, Billy Mullican.

Virginia is survived by two daughters, Sherri Pollack and husband Wayne of Kingsport, and Terri Gates of Cincinatti, OH; son, Chris J. Scissom and wife, Stephanie of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Danielle Scissom, Shaun Scissom, Luke Pollack, Lance Pollack, Patrick Gates and Matthew Gates; brothers, Dean Mullican and wife, Ruth of Charleston, SC; and Grady Mullican and wife, Nancy of Tracey City, TN; sister-in-law, Tiny Meyers of Chattanooga, TN; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gail Sutherland, Patsy Carrick and Lynn Beldsoe.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Susan Lankford officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday at 11:30 am at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim Ball, Jimmy Ball, Ken Goforth, Sammie Mullican, Bobby Lynn Stinnett and Herman Carrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Bledsoe and Jerry Wheelock
