Virginia Pauline Vicars, 87, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010, at the home of her daughter, Denise Zivi, in Severna Park, MD. She was born in Russell County, VA, on July 5, 1922, to Howard and Margaret Musick, one of eight children. She and her husband, Earl, and their children lived in Norton, VA, until moving to Kingsport in 1962.
When her health allowed, she attended the King's Highway Temple church, and enjoyed the companionship and friendship of many members of the church.
Pauline's greatest pleasures were reading and traveling around the country with husband, Earl, in the family 1941 Chevrolet. She was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl, and one son, Eddie.
Survivors include a daughter, Denise Zivi and husband, Dan, of Severna Park, MD; son, Sidney Vicars and wife, Kathy, of Kingsport; granddaughters, Amy Lane, April Tegeler and husband, Bret, and Rebecca Vicars; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Nora Tegeler, and Celia and Chloe Taylor; and sister, Dean DeForest, of Niles, Michigan.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon. Services will be conducted at 12 noon, with Rev. Richard Dice officiating. Interment will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Kingsport Antique and Rod Club.
The family would especially like to thank caregiver, companion, and friend, Pauline Jennings, for her excellent care, patience, and kindness. The family would also like to thank special neighbors, and the Wellmont Hospice House and everyone in the organization who gave care to Pauline.
