Bill Applegate died March 28, 2008, from a massive stroke at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, South Carolina, at the age of 82.
He served in the U. S. Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theatre on Peliliu Island. Upon his return home, Bill was a member of the reserves and worked for Eastman in the power house for 40 years. He was a member of the VFW Post #3382 and Moose Lodge #972.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Myrtle; second wife, Velma; a sister, Gwendolyn; a brother, Adrian, as well as two infant brothers.
Surviving are his sons, Butch Applegate and wife, Becky; Allen Applegate and wife, Jasita; one brother, Henry Paris "Pete" Applegate and wife, Betty; and one sister, Phoebe Ann Looper. He is also survived by two stepdaughters, four stepsons, six grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial/remembrance service will be held at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch on Saturday, April 5, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
