?To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord?

Wallace ?Wally? Davis, 61, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Indian Path Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.

A lifelong resident of Kingsport, he attended Ketron High School, was a former employee of Lowe?s, and retired from Holston Builders. Mr. Davis attended Pleasant View Baptist Church and was a born-again Christian. He loved NASCAR, the Atlanta Braves, football, and camping. Wally was a kind and fun-loving person, was a friend to all he knew, and was a devoted and loving husband.

His parents, Nick and Charity Davis; and a brother, John D. Davis, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Connie Newberry Davis, Kingsport; four brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Mary Davis, Jimmy and Brenda Davis, all of Kingsport, Stewart and Marsha Davis, Sarasota, Florida, Gary and Dorothy Davis, Dyersburg, TN; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Davis and Louise Askey, Sarasota, FL; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special aunt and uncle, Jessie and Bobby DeZarn, Kingsport; special friends, Larry and Betty Coffey, Kingsport; and the joys of his life, Kaylee and Bodie Thompson.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, and any time at the home. Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Baker and Rev. J. W. Depew officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Family members and friends are asked to meet at Hamlett-Dobson by 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.

After the graveside services family members and friends are invited to the home.

Pallbearers will be Steve Davis, Anthony Davis, Larry Coffey, Ronnie Roberts, Leonard Morris, and Tim Evans.
