Walter Blevins, 81, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2009.
Mr. Blevins served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Felix and Bertha Blevins; and daughter, Joyce Blevins.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Blevins, Kingsport; two daughters, Gloria Hammond and husband Brad, and Angela Blevins, all of Kingsport; four sons, Mark Blevins and wife Donna of Kingsport, Steve Blevins and wife Sherry of Orlando, FL, David Blevins and wife Carolyn of Kingsport, and Roger Blevins of Kingsport; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Reba Barrett of Saltville, VA; one brother, Bill Blevins of Glade Spring, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Musick officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
