Walter Cline Collins, 80, of Blountville, went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center. A native of Hawkins County, he was the son of the late Herman and Beatrice Collins. Walter proudly served in the United States Army. He retired from Kingsport Press after 30+ years. He was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Walter was a loving husband, dad, papaw and friend and will be missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leon Collins.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 52 ½ years, June Greene Collins of the home; daughter, Debbie Collins Trammell and husband, C.R. of Canton, GA; son, Walter Greg Collins and wife, Deana of Kingsport; 4 grandchildren, Michael Collins, Paige Trammell, Meredith Collins and Alex Trammell; brother, Ronald Collins of Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Travis Pierson officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Michael Collins, Alex Trammell, C.R. Trammell, Larry Bishop, Doug Pierson and Frank Waldo.
