Walter K. Hale

Walter K. Hale, 73, Gray, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.

He served two years in the U. S. Army and retired from Pet Dairy.

Walter attended Gateway Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Katie Hale; and four brothers, Verlin, Paul, James "Jim", and Carl Hale.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Joann Hale of the home; four daughters, Donna Nunley and husband Dennis of Kingsport, Nancy McJunkin and husband Rick of Hickory, NC, Judy Walters and husband Joe of Church Hill, and Patricia Hartsock of St. Petersburg, FL; one son, Michael Hale and wife Lisa of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Matthew Skeen, Jake Hartsock, Dustin Nunley, Danielle Nunley and Madelyn Hale; four great-grandchildren, Lexie, Skyla, Paige and Lacey Day; one sister, Minnie Dunn of Kingsport; special niece, Sharon Vermillion and husband, Carl; and several other nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport and any time at the home of his daughter, Donna Nunley.

Services will be at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Levi Arnold and Rev. Orville Rogers officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post #3/265.

Pallbearers will be Joe Walters, James Franklin Matthew Skeen, and Dustin Nunley.
