Wanda Catherine Lane Castle, 81, of Kingsport, lost her long courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Wanda was born on October 19, 1934 in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late Rhea Lane and Cora Haynes Lane. She was a member of Gravelly Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Arson Castle; sisters, Margaret Caudill and Nell Taylor; and brothers, Johnny Lane, Elijah Lane, and Paul Lane.
Wanda is survived by her son, Daryl E. Castle and wife Peggy; granddaughter, Jennifer Castle Harmon; grandson, Mitch Way; great-grandson, Trais Harmon; brother, Gene Lane and wife Rosie; several nieces, nephews, and special cousins, Janice Baxter, Katherine McMurray, Linda Barnett, and Judy Kreger; special caregivers, Linda Barnett, Carla Starnes, and Roy Parsons; and special friends, Alma Jean Bates, Reda Young, Ilene Gott, and Freda Correll.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Will Shewey and Pastor David Salley officiating.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Holston View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Barnett, Donnie Baker, Ronnie Lane, Dave Coates, Danny Bell, and Randal Lane. Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Gillreath, Roy Parsons, and Bobby Skeens.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aids of Wellmont Hospice; especially RN, Becky Southerland; and Aid, Skye Twitty.
