Wanda D. Smith

Wanda Deloris Asbury Smith, 66, of Kingsport, formerly of Cloud Apartments, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Indian Path Medical Center, after fighting a hard battle with diabetes.

Born in Kingsport on February 12, 1950, daughter of the late Vernon and Grace Crittenden Asbury, she had resided in this area her entire life.

Wanda was of the Holiness faith.

She was a loving, outgoing person who loved to shop. Wanda will be remembered as a devoted mom, mamaw, sister, and friend.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Amy Rice and husband, Timmy of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Timmy Rice, Jr. and girlfriend, Morgan Tribble, and Brittany Michelle Snyder; soon-to-be-born-grandson; two step-grandchildren, Bobby Rice and girlfriend, Ashley and child, Kaylee Rice and Cassey Rice; step-great-grandchildren, Jaycee Rice and Jordan Rice; brother, Gary Wayne Asbury, of Kingsport; sister, Shirley Fay Asbury Williams of Kingsport; nieces and nephews, Christopher, Shawn, and Crystal Gail and several other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Rosemary Larkins, Janice Riley, and Marie Clark.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who has contributed to her care.

Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the family to help defray cemetery expenses.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport and at other hours at the residence of her daughter. The service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Johnny Gibson, Rev. Joe Robinette and Rev. Phil Kidd officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Depew's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. and then proceed to the cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Wayne Asbury, Larry Williams, Will Robinette, Bob Larkins and Charlie Shaffer.
