Wanda Johnson

Wanda Johnson passed away on March 24, 2019 at Life Care Center of Gray with her family by her side. She was a kind and caring soul who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Wanda was born March 4, 1938 in Drill, Virginia to Thomas and Cynthia (Rhea) Lockhart. She was married to her beloved husband, Roy Johnson, for 54 years before his passing in 2016.

She worked at several positions throughout her life:  Kingsport Press, Giant Luncheonette; Rental Uniform and retired from Brookhaven Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brothers, Thomas, Robert, Frank and David Lockhart; sisters, Cleo “Betty” Shoemaker, Madeline “Peggy” Ubernosky and Patty Sue Cole; half-brothers, Ed, Wallace, Ellis, William and Andrew Lockhart; and half-sisters, Mary Honaker and Viola Rhea.

Her survivors include son, Dallas Van Arnold; grandson, Trevor Arnold; great-grandson, Kasen Arnold; brother, Allen Baker Lockhart; sisters, Thelma Honaker, Joyce Grills and Brenda Phillips; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Garden of the Good Shepherd with her nephew, Chris Lockhart officiating. Special music will be provided by Heather Gilreath, violinist. Friends and family should meet at the cemetery 30 minutes before the service.

A special thanks to the staff of LCCG for their loving care for Wanda the last seven months and to Caris Healthcare for their care the last few days of her life.
