Wanda M. Faust

October 11, 1929 — February 24, 2016

Wanda M. Faust

Wanda M. Faust was born in Kingsport TN, a city she called home for most of her life, on October 11, 1929. She passed away peacefully at the Holston Valley Medical Center on February 24, 2016.

During her four years at Emory and Henry College, Wanda was on the Wasps basketball team. Her sweet smile was accompanied by a fierceness that proved to be useful on and off the court. After graduating in 1952, she went on to a career with the FBI in Washington D.C. When it was time to return to her roots, Wanda moved back to Kingsport and took a job with the Kingsport Press, an organization where she faithfully worked for 38 years.

Her faith in God was incredibly important to her and she was able to grow in that faith at Salem United Methodist Church and Kingsley United Methodist Church where she was an active member.

Wanda was known as an exemplary philanthropist and recently helped to establish a memorial scholarship for future teachers at her alma mater in memory of the late Helen J. Faust, Wanda's sister and a member of the E&H Class of 1954, and the late Ruth E. Williamson, Wanda's dear friend and a member of the E&H Class of 1951.

Throughout the years Wanda could frequently be seen sporting the bright orange of The University of Tennessee Volunteers. She was an avid fan who showed up to support her team at both home and away games, often traveling a great distance to cheer them on in person.

Her dedication and devotion to The UT Vols was only overshadowed by three things-- her great love for God, her family and her friends.

Wanda's joyful chuckle, her easy going demeanor, and the light that she provided to everyone she met will be missed by her friends and her family.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Letitia S. Faust, her sister, Helen Faust, and her special friend, Ruth E. Williamson.

She is survived by her Aunt, Nataleen Shoemaker Hawkins, family from the Faust, Shoemaker, and Williamson families, along with her church family from Kingsley United Methodist Church and Salem United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Saturday February 27 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Kingsley United Methodist Church with funeral services following at 2:30 pm with the Rev. Raymond W. Amos Sr., Pastor Adam Love, Pastor Lewis Kiser, and Pastor Joe Barber officiating. A burial service will follow at the Gunning's Cemetery in Blountville Tennessee.

Pallbearers will be members of Kingsley United Methodist Church and Salem United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kinsley United Methodist Church, 2825 Bloomingdale Pike, Kingsport TN. 37660 or Salem United Methodist Church, 230 Boozy Creek Road Blountville, TN. 37617.
