Wanda Marie Sampson

Marie Shoun Sampson, 84, entered into rest on October 28, 2007 following a lengthy illness. Born in Knoxville, TN on January 5, 1923, she moved to Johnson City at an early age.

Mrs. Sampson graduated from Science Hill High School and attended Milligan College. She worked at Holston Ordinance during World War II and served as Postmaster at Fall Branch Post Office until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of First Christian Church in Johnson City.

She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.

Her parents, Joseph Bernie Shoun and Lula King Shoun, son, Billy Joe Sampson and her husband of 42 years Sam Kincheloe Sampson preceded her in death.

Surviving are her daughters, Mary Linda Palmer, Sandra Marie Deakins and husband Jerry, and Samma Kaye Sampson; grandchildren, Christy Shivell, Fred Palmer III, David Palmer, Matt Palmer, Andrea Deakins, Billy Palmer, Jared Deakins; five great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Avery ; sister-in-law, Juanita Fogle; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Fall Branch Chapel with Rev. Millard Johnson officiating.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Fall Branch Cemetery.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
