Wayne T. Bacon

Wayne T. Bacon, 88, of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 following a brief illness, surrounded by his family. Born in Washington County, TN on October 16, 1925, a son of the late Coy and Monnie Chase Bacon, he returned to Tennessee in 2005, following 20 years in Florida. He attended Valley View Missionary Baptist and First Baptist Church of Church Hill. Wayne was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the VFW. He retired from Holston Defense Corp in 1986 following 35 years of service. Wayne farmed for 35 years in the Harmony Community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M. Bacon in 2009, and his brother, Billy Joe Bacon.

Wayne is survived by his special companion, Hilde Bacon; two grandchildren, Mike Redman and wife, Karen, and Barry Redman and wife, Christine, great-grandson, Ryan Redman, all of Kingsport; sister-in-law, Dotty Bacon; and nephew, Joe Bacon and wife, Nikki.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ICU medical staff of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 11-1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport and at any other time at the home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with Dr. Bobby Bernard and Rev. Mitch Russell officiating. Special music will be provided by trumpeter, Andy Wilson, and soloist, Gary Rice.

Burial will follow in Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Barry Redman, Ryan Redman, Larry Redman, Joel Davis, Jerry Ward and Terry Larkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Elmer "Junior" Sears and Eddie Pierson.
