Wayne Painter

Wayne Painter, 68, Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Franklin Woods Hospital in Johnson City. This week we lost a beloved brother, a truly fine friend and a caring neighbor with the passing of Donald "Wayne" Painter of Fall Branch. Wayne was the third generation of Painters who lived in the big white house on Painter Road and farmed the land that surrounds it. He lived and worked the family farm his entire life. Like him, his parents - Clyde and Marie Painter - and before them his grandparents - Thomas and Jessie Painter - made the farm the successful enterprise that it was.

He was born in Washington County on March 8, 1946, and graduated from Fall Branch High School in 1964. Wayne will be remembered as a truly caring Christian man, highly regarded by everyone who knew him, a humble man always ready to help a friend or neighbor when called upon. Wayne was blessed by the saving grace of Jesus Christ and was a long time member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Wayne is survived by his sister, Sarah Stewart and her husband, Pete Stewart of Columbia, SC.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Franklin Woods Hospital for their extraordinary care and to Dee Hubbard and Wayne's other close friends who stood by him the last three weeks of his life.

There will be a committal service on Friday at 1:30 pm in the Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch chapel with Rev. Vic Wallace officiating. The burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Logan's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Austin Willis, Dennis Osborne, Jeffery Strickler, Jake Castle, Lynn Hubbard and Brad Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers will be John Brown, Mark Strickler, Allen Cox, Gary Crisp, Justin Rose and Dee Hubbard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Fall Branch Volunteer Fire Department, 106 Ruritan Rd., Fall Branch, TN 37656.
