Weldon Bacon, 87, of Fall Branch passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Wexford House following an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Washington County, he worked at many jobs in the Tri-Cities. He was in law enforcement for over 20 years. He loved driving bus no. 7 for Washington County School System. He was a member of the Fall Branch Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Pearl Bacon, son, Nilon Kay Bacon, sisters, Mildred Bacon, Wanda Moody, and Ruth Britt; and brother, Billy Wayne Bacon.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wilma Louise "Billie" Bacon; son, Mark Bacon and wife, Lisa; sister, Juanita Madan & husband, P. L.; sister-in-law, Patty Jo Grimsley; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, "Lucky."
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 8 p.m. with Ministers Steve Payne and Dewey Mooney officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 3, at 11 a.m. at Fall Branch Church of Christ Cemetery with Minister Charles Huff officiating.
Active pallbearers will be constables of Washington County and Sullivan County. Honorary pallbearers will be past constables and bus drivers of the Washington County School System.
