Wendell Winston McDavid, 66, 418 Ferncliff, Kingsport, went to be with his heavenly father Monday, October 8, 2007, at Indian Path Medical Center.
He served in the U. S. Army from 1958 to 1961 and worked at Eastman Chemical Company from 1962 until retiring in 1995. Wendell was a loving family man and very active in Charity Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Henry McDavid; his mother, Edna Collins McDavid; his wife, Kathleen Renae McDavid; brothers, Donald, Lloyd, and Earl; and sisters, Kathleen Bernard and Irene Fritz.
Surviving are his wife, Zeable McDavid, Kingsport; his daughter, Tyra Wright, Johnson City; his son, Timothy McDavid, Kingsport; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Jeanette Ormond, Evelyn Williams, Peggy Ham, Brenda Stevens, Sandra Rogers, all of Kingsport, and Hazel Oswell, Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Charity Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church with Pastor Mike Owens officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Holston View Cemetery.
