Wes Hicks

Sam Wesley Hicks, Sr., 81, of Kingsport, entered his heavenly home on Saturday, February 23, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport, having retired from Kingsport Press/Quebecor Printing in 2001 after 44 and a half years of service. Wes was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Morrison City for over 56 years and served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He enjoyed spending time with his family, eating out, working outside, and especially mowing and farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Wesley “Pete” and Belle Hutchins Hicks; son, Michael Wayne Hicks; sister, Ruth Rock; brother, Walter Hicks; and special aunt, Helen Crussell.

Wes is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Larkins Hicks, of the home; son, Sam Wesley Hicks, Jr.; three daughters, Pam Stidham, Angie Thacker (Mike), and Trisha Carter (Russell), all of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Angel Thacker and Wesley Stidham and fiancé Caitlyn Russell; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at First Free Will Baptist Church of Morrison City, 211 W. Carters Valley Rd, Kingsport, TN 37665. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Brian Capps and Rev. Chris Ferrell officiating and special remarks by Mark Cox. Music will be provided by Penney Capps and True Faith Quartet.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Larkins Cemetery in Hawkins County.

Pallbearers will be Billy Rock, Tim Rock, Danny Rock, Dan Rock, Kenny Hicks, Dillon Laney, Tim Morrison, and Dave Morrison. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Trustee and Deacon Board, and friends.
