Whitney Nichole Ramey, 17, of Yuma, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 11, 2010.
A junior at Gate City High School, she was a three-year letter cheerleader having made captain this year. She was a member of the National Honor Society as well as a TN/VA AIMS Scholar. Among her other activities, Whitney played in the wind section in the band, ran track for two years, and played softball for one year. Whitney loved being outdoors--especially at the beach. She also loved hiking, going to the movies, and being with her friends.
Whitney was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Theodore Roosevelt Ramey and Nancy Jane Ramey, and her maternal grandmother, Dana S. Bogart.
She is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Tina Ramey of Gate City; two brothers, Justin Ramey and wife Kristen of Gate City and Jeremy Falin of Iola, KS; maternal grandfather, Maynard Fields of Limestone; and several special aunts, uncles, and cousins including a special great-aunt, Norma Jean Gray; and many special friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Weber City.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Weber City with Rev. Randall Spivey and Rev. Billy Arrington officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in Church Hill Memorial Gardens. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
