William Wesley Argabrite, Jr., loving father and grandfather, passed away on Monday Sept. 18, 2007 at his home at Preston Place Suites in Kingsport.
He was born on Aug. 18, 1927 and grew up in Blacksburg, VA, before moving with his wife to Kingsport in 1951. He graduated from Virginia Tech and was a devoted Hokies fan.
Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 56 years where he served as an Elder and Deacon. He retired as an Executive Vice President from Edwards Tipton Witt Agency. He was a Past President of Insurors of Tennessee, Past Chairman of the Kingsport Citizens Advisory Committee, Past President of Lions Club, past member of the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce, and member of Rotary.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Courtney Argabrite, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Beulah Argabrite.
Surviving are one son, William and his wife Tricia of Kingsport; two grandchildren, William Wesley Argabrite, III, Atlanta, and Alyson Courtney Argabrite, Kingsport; and one niece, Barbara Holdren of Richmond, VA.
Burial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, at New Providence Presbyterian Church in Surgoinsville, TN. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 21, at First Presbyterian Church of Kingsport with The Rev. Dr. David Cagle and Rev. L. Craig Foster officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Armstrong, Newton Shearer, Mike Witt, Tim Witt, George Jeter, Ed Combs, Don Wolford and Wes Argabrite.
The family extends its appreciation to the staff of Preston Place for their loving care and support.
