Celebration of Life
For William D. Adams
Feb. 10, 1933 - April 28, 2018

William Douglas Adams, known to his friends and family as Bill, went to be with our Lord Jesus April 28th at 9:06 p.m.

Bill lived in Kingsport, Tennessee, all of his life, with the exception of his two year military service in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He worked at Tennessee Eastman (Kodak) as a research analyst in the chemical research division and retired from Eastman after 38 years of employment. Bill loved people and made many friends along his life's journey. His church family held a special place in his heart. He served his church as a deacon.

After his retirement, he volunteered at the Kingsport Habitat for Humanity store for almost 25 years. He recently made 600 birdhouses and donated them to the Habitat store to help build new homes. He was an avid hunter for most of his life, where he developed lifelong friendships, but his favorite hunting outings were with his son, Doug and his 2 grandchildren, Fisher and Piper. Bill loved the outdoors best. All of his grandchildren benefited from his love and wisdom and the special time he took with each one.

Always caring about the wildlife around him, Bill fed the birds, squirrels, turkey, fox and deer around his home year round. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and friend. Bill was a magnanimous soul, with a keen sense of humor that was infectious and uplifting to others.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Anna King Adams; a son, William Douglas (Doug) and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Courtney Adams; a daughter, Vanessa Adams Cockrum and son-in-law, David Lee Crockum; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Colonial Heights Baptist Church. The service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tommy Haynes and Dr. Greg Burton officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oak Hill Memorial Park, with American Legion Post 3/265 Honor Guard.
