William Oscar Frye, Jr. (Bill), 71, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 16, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
Bill served in the US Navy on the USS Ticonderoga during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 979. They are serving as pallbearers. He was an active member of Shekinah Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Curran Frye and his brother, Robert Joseph Frye (Bobby Joe).
Bill is survived by his father, William Oscar Frye, Sr.; son, William Oscar Frye III (Billy); daughters, Jamie Henry and husband, Doug, Johnson City, TN, and Angie Gove and husband Lee, King William, VA; grandchildren, Luke Hodge and Hannah Hodge; niece Jodie Roberts; nephew, BJ Frye; and several cousins.
We would like to express our deepest appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the VA Hospital's CLC. Their care and compassion shown to our family during this difficult time was AWESOME!
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Sue Curran officiating.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
The pallbearers will be Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 979.
