William Bill Kanipe

William ?Bill? Lloyd Kanipe, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 2, 2007 after a lengthy illness. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was of the Baptist faith. Bill was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman and spent most of his time outdoors.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Bertha Kanipe; his first wife of many years, Marie Kanipe; and one son, Luther Kanipe.

Surviving are his wife, Patty Kanipe of the home, one daughter, Patricia Stallard of Mt. Carmel, one son, Raymond L. Kanipe and wife, Sheila of Kingsport; eleven grandchildren, Brian Kanipe, Shannon Kanipe, Brannon Kanipe, Zachary Neil, Stephon Neil, Lora Aistrop, Tammy Nelson, Sherry Greene, Eric Stallard, Chad Kanipe, and Chris Kanipe; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Bert Kanipe and wife Evelyn of Indiana, a very special friend Rev. Charles Boggle, and Lawanda, a very caring neighbor.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport and anytime at Bill?s home or at the home of his daughter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Boggle and Rev. J. W. Depew officiating.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 3/265 at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Brian Kanipe, Shannon Kanipe, Brannon Kanipe, Zachary Neil, Stephon Neil, and Roy Hutson.

The family would like to express their thanks to all those at Central Assembly Church, Kingsport.
