William Lee ?Gan Gan? King, 80, Kingsport, died at 10:20 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007, at Johnson City Medical Center after a short illness.
Born in Wise County, Virginia, he resided in Kingsport for many years. Bill served with the U. S. Navy during World War II on the USS Frost DE144. He was employed with Bennett and Edwards and Heritage Federal during most of his working life.
Bill was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Sally Humbert and husband, Michael, Hardeeville, SC; one son, William L. ?Bill? King Jr., Nashville; three grandchildren, Ashley Myers, Charlotte, NC, Lindsay Myers, New York City, NY, and Jordan Myers, Bluffton, SC; one niece, Diane Barrow, Franklin, TN; one nephew, Bill Baker, Colorado; two great-nieces, Ashley and Heather Barrow; and a cousin, Ralph King, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport with Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
It was Bill?s request that his cremated remains be buried at sea.
