William L. McCoy Sr., 87, Kingsport, passed away Friday afternoon, January 18, 2008.
Bill was born in Keokee, Virginia; grew up in Church Hill, Tennessee; lived in Rocky Mount, North Carolina; and returned to Kingsport in 1982 after retiring from General Mills.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Nancy McCoy; sisters, Maxine Rembarger, Lois Williams, Vera Minervini; and one brother, Carroll McCoy.
Surviving are one daughter, Sallie M. Page and husband, Dennis G. of Kingsport; one son, William McCoy Jr. and wife, Sue of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Karen Honeycutt and husband Michael, Kelly McCoy, Joseph Page and wife Amanda; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Tranbarger, Kingsport; and one brother, D. T. McCoy, Kingsport.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Liberty Hill Cemetery with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.
The family requests memorials be given to First Baptist Church, 200 W. Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660 or to the charity of one's choice.
