William "Bill" Moorehouse, 80, a resident of Kingsport, passed away on Monday, April 30th at Indian Path Medical Center. He was loved by everyone and was a friend to all.
Born March 9, 1932, in Kingsport, he was a graduate of Sullivan High School. Bill went to work at Eastman Kodak, retiring in 1987 after 33 years of service as the supervisor of maintenance at the facility. He then went to work in maintenance at the Days Inn near the Tri-Cities Regional Airport. After six years of working there, Bill opened his own handyman business in 1993 that he continued to run until earlier this year.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, Margaret and George Moorehouse; sister, Hazel M. Price; brother, Jon Edwin Moorehouse; son, Billy Ed Moorehouse; grandparents, W.S. and Carrie Moorehouse; uncle and aunt, Robert Moorehouse, Sr., and Grace Moorehouse; uncle and aunt, Glenn and Myrtle Moorehouse; uncle, Richard C. Moorehouse; uncle, Roy Moorehouse; and mother-in-law, Mary Light Collier.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Light-Moorehouse; daughter, Deborah L. Garza and husband, Ray; grandson, Shawn Michaels and wife, Teresa; sister, Jean Whitwell; aunts, Ruth Bray and Louise Sutphin; brother-in-law, J.R. Light and wife, Wilma; a host of beloved cousins, including Cris Moorehouse and wife, Theona, Evan Moorehouse and wife, LaVerne, Sue Cumbow and husband, David, Robert Moorehouse, II and wife, Marsha, John Moorehouse and wife, Sandi, Patty Faris and husband, Jim, and Laura Morin and husband, Robert; special friends Georgia Ward, Helen Berry and Cindy Blackwell; and all of his customers over the years at Bill's Handyman Service.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 4th from 11-1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with Dr. Edward Dillowe officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Keith Boston, Earl Carter, John Moorehouse, Robert Moorehouse, II, Cris Moorehouse and Travis Leilich. Honorary pallbearers include Marrell Parker, Richard Britton, John Dallas, Don Adams and J.R. Light.
