William Richard Goins

William Richard Goins, 84, formerly of New Carlisle, OH and Kingsport, went to be with his wife of 65 years on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in Cocoa, FL after an extended illness. Born in Dayton, OH, he was raised in Kingsport. Richard was a Veteran of the Korean War while serving with the US Army. Upon returning from his military service he worked for Inter-Mountain Telephone Company, then moved to Ohio where he raised his family, retiring from Wright-Patt Air Force Base. He moved to Cocoa, FL in 2008. Richard was a deacon and an elder of Southern Hills Church of Christ in Fairborn, OH.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Goins; his son, William (Bill) Richard Goins, Jr.; sister, Martha (Jenni) Steffey; three brothers, Randolph Goins, Don Goins, Johnny Ferguson.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Marie Y. Todd and husband, Matthew of Merritt Island, FL; sister, Teresa Proffit of Clinton, TN; brother, George Goins of Oak Ridge, TN; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00pm on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Pastor Lennis France officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be presented by the American Legion Post 3/265.
