William S. "Bill" Richardson

William S. "Bill" Richardson, 73, of Kingsport, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Coeburn, VA on May 30, 1943, a son of the late Bruce and Helen Elizabeth McConnell Richardson McClellan, he had resided in this area since 1973. Bill retired from the U.S. Navy in 1983, having served his country in Morocco, Africa, Okinawa, Japan, the Cuban Blockade, the Persian Gulf (Iran hostage crisis), 9 years in the Pentagon and finished in Puerto Rico. Later Bill worked for Quebecor (Arcadia Graphics) and retired in 2004 after 10 years of service. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Tri-Cities PROAM Golf Association.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Michael McClellan and niece, Jenny Lynn McClellan.

Bill is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jean Ratliff Richardson of the home; 2 daughters, Mary Catherine Mossburg and husband, Brian of Rutledge, TN, and Deborah Leigh Rentzell and husband, Skip of Indianapolis, IN; 2 stepsons, James E. "Buddy" Ratliff, Jr. of Kingsport, and David Eugene Ratliff of Atlanta, GA; 5 grandchildren, Devin Erfourth and Meahan, Justin Mossburg and wife, Dani, Caitlin Rentzell, Allyson Rentzell and Heath Rentzell; 2 step-grandchildren, Nicholas Ratliff and Jamie Ratliff; 2 brothers, Don McClellan and wife, Regina of Woodstock GA, and Scott McClellan and wife, Lisa of Vicksburg, MS; sister, Susan Rines and husband, Pastor Bill of Church Hill; sister-in-law, Zeable Queen of Kingsport; and mother-in-law, Bonnie Pepper of Kingsport.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Bill Rines officiating.

The graveside service will be conducted on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Holston View Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 3/265. Those attending graveside services are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 pm.
