William "Slemp Boy" "Wilbur" Skeen, 37, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his home. He was a life long resident of Kingsport and was a 1994 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. William was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church Glenwood Campus. He loved watching old movies, drinking Pepsi's and was a real jokester. William enjoyed talking with all of the elderly people in the neighborhood about the olden days.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Skeen, Sr., and sister-in-law, Vanessa Webb.
William is survived by his mother, Betty; four sisters, Diana and husband, Roger, Donna, Zoeann, and Mary and fiancé, Chris ; four brothers, Duane, James and wife, Teresa, Bill and fiancée, Judy, and Vernon and wife, Sally; special aunt, Nannie Belle Wright; two special friends, Ruby Wilson and Joseph Releford; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 10th from 12-2:00 pm at Indian Springs Baptist Church Glenwood Campus. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Tiger Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Skeen Family Cemetery in Kermit, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Knighten, Jeret Ratliff, Phillip Stover, Joseph Releford, Bobby Cordell and Jackie Flanary.
