William Smith

William "Buster" Smith, 66, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at his home.

Buster was born in Alhambra, CA, and moved to Kingsport in 1977. He was employed by Eastman and retired from there after 27 years. He was an active member of Sullivan Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Opal Fields Smith, of Los Angeles, CA, and his brothers, Norman Smith, Leon Smith, Jr., and Noel Smith, all of California.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Judy Barrett Smith; daughter, Shari Smith, of Kingsport; son Scotty Smith, currently serving in Afghanistan, and wife, Wendy, of MN; grandchildren, Sophie Smith and her mother, Mare Dockery, of Gray, Amber Keller, of MN, Jonathan Keller and Christopher Keller, both of MN; great-grandchildren, Jayden and soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Bailey, of MN; sister, Deloras Calmer and husband, John, of Kingman, AZ; brothers, James Smith and wife, Jenny, of Bellflower, CA, and Les Smith and wife, Sharon, of Los Angeles, CA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara "Sis" Hite, and husband, Glen, of Kingsport, Thelma Parton, Tifton, GA, Paul Barrett, Kingsport, James and Nell Barrett, also of Kingsport, Lynn Barrett, Gray; several nieces and nephews; grandpups, Maddie, Solomon and Bella.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. A Memorial Service will follow at 8:00p.m. with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts #3/265.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Sullivan Baptist Association Disaster Relief, 935 Wilcox Court, Suite 155, Kingsport, 37660, or the Sullivan Baptist Church Building Fund, 4152 Maplewood Street, Kingsport, TN 37660.
