Willie "Bill" Dykes, 86, of the Beech Creek Community, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Dykes; two sons, Willis Dykes and Robert Dykes; a daughter, Brenda Clark; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Dykes; and a son-in-law, Jerry Clark.
Mrs. Dykes is survived by a special granddaughter, Sandy Mendenhall and husband Ricky; grandchildren, Debby Conkin and husband Randy, Vicky Dykes and fiancé Bill Benton, Trina Conkin and husband Chris, and Pam Mendenhall; seven great-grandchildren, Tracy Benton, Kevin Mendenhall and fiancé Brooke Self, Wayne Parrott, Travis Conkin, Amanda Conkin, Austin Conkin, and Cassidy Benton; a great- great-grandson, Jacob Light; daughter-in-law, Wilma Dykes; special caregiver and friend, Margaret Matthews; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch, or anytime at the home of her granddaughter, Sandy Mendenhall.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Clint Ramey officiating. Honorary minister will be Rev. Orville Dolen.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Dykes Family Cemetery in Rogersville.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
