Willie Nell Daugherty Heffner, 84, died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol. She was born and raised in Kingsport and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School.
Willie was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church where she loved to hear Dr. Roc Collins preach and enjoyed the choir and orchestra so much. She was a very unique person with a witty personality. She cherished life, loved her family dearly and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Our hearts are broken as she will be so greatly missed, but we are comforted knowing that we will be with her and our Lord and Savior one day.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Elbert and Anna Belle Daugherty; brothers, Clifton and Bascom Daugherty; sisters, Allah Winegar, Ruth Burdine, Mary Taylor; and a granddaughter, Faith Wells.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Charlie Heffner; daughters, Barbara Helton and Janet Wells and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Bryan Williams, Weston Williams, Janet Nixon, Jasen Wells, Janea Carter, and Dr. Jimmie Glenn; great-grandchildren, Daniel Wilder, Matt Dorsey, Joshua Dorsey, C. J. Wells, Jayna Wells, Mikaela Carter, Clay Carter, Alexis Williams, Kera Williams, Brennan Williams, Kyndal Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes Kingsport with Dr. David Merrill and Jim Wells conducting the service. Burial will follow immediately at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jasen Wells, C. J. Wells, Bryan Williams, Weston Williams, Brennan Williams, Daniel Wilder, and Matt Dorsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Wells and Butch Burdine.
The family would like to sincerely thank all of the wonderful people at Hospice House for helping to make everyone so comfortable.
