Wilma Jean Benton

 

Wilma Jean Benton, 80, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, October 21, 2019. She was born in Kingsport in 1939 to Nita and Thurman Barker, and graduated from Ketron High School in the class of 1957.

 

Wilma was the quintessential mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a heart full of love for all who knew her.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nita and Thurman Barker.

 

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Walter Jack Benton; daughter, Cyndi Hunt and her husband, David; son, Jonathan Benton and his wife, Jessica; brother, Rev. Keith Barker and his wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Anna Lynch and her husband, Wes, Caleb Hunt and his wife, Christina, Kate Benton, Nathanael Hunt, Alexander Benton and Silas Benton; great-grandchildren, Kahlan and Keirah Lynch, and Jackson Hunt; and nieces, Stephanie Evans and Suzanne Eaves.

 

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 5-7:00 pm at Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ, 2733 Elizabethton Highway, Johnson City, TN 37601. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Donny Reagan officiating.

 

The graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Kingsport.
