Wilma Flanary McClellan, 94, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 after a brief illness. Wilma was born February 17, 1922 to the late Nathan and Mae Flanary. She attended Fall Branch United Methodist Church, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the VFW Auxiliary. Wilma was an employee of Tennessee Eastman Company and was an excellent seamstress who made draperies for Baylor-Nelms Furniture, CASTOS, and eventually launched her own business, Wilma McClellan Drapery. She loved to garden, travel and was an accomplished ballroom dancer, but most of all she fiercely loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Flanary, Troy (Bud) Flanary, Ira Gentry Flanary and Robert Ray Flanary; first husband, Thomas Marion Carter; and ex-husband, John S. McClellan.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Jane Booher; son, Scott McClellan; granddaughter, Laura Russell-Harper and husband, Larry; great-grandson, Seth Harper; sister-in-law, Rose Phillips; several nieces and a nephew; and cousin, O.A. Quillen of Slant, VA.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the caregivers at Asbury Baysmont and Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport on Monday from 5-7:00 pm.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fall Branch United Methodist Church, 1901 Hwy. 93, Fall Branch, TN 37656, or to Wellmont Hospice House, 380 Steeles Rd., Bristol, TN 37620.
