Wilma Hensley Gardner

Wilma Gardner, 90, of the Oak Glen Community, went to be with the Lord Sunday October 4, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Wilma was a lifelong member of the Oak Glen Missionary Baptist Church.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Gardner; and infant daughter, Carol Gardner.

Surviving are her daughter, Ava Joan Gardner Burke and husband Jackie of Gray, TN; her son, Tony Mac Gardner and wife Kimberly of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Deena Taylor and husband Greg of Gray, Joshua Morrison of Phoenix, AZ, and Bradley Gale Gardner and wife April of Johnson City, TN; five great-grandchildren, Kate, Lena, Rayne, Bobby, and Jessica Taylor; sister, Maude Light and husband Dempsey; special friend and sisters , Cathy Horton and Ann Light; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Services will be at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. John Crawford officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Glen Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Gardner, Leonard Gardner, Danny Gardner, Michael Gardner, Allen Gardner, and Greg Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Light, Bill Gardner, Jr., and Dwight Morrison.

Memorial contributions may be given to Oak Glen Cemetery Fund, 462 Oak Glen Circle, Fall Branch, TN 37656.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Greystone Healthcare and Wellmont Hospice and to Dr. Steven J. Baumrucker for their special care and loving attention.
